My good friends and fellow artists, Anna Tovar and Jenny McElligott, and I teamed up to create a limited edition gift set for Valentine’s Day. We had such a good time coming up with special and unique pieces to make this a stand out, unforgettable gift-giving and receiving experience.
I wanted to steer away from the typical Valentine’s colors of red and hot pink and instead I used subtle colors and tons of texture. The black and white anemones, while so finicky, added the perfect touch and opened up just in time for Valentine’s.
The gold vessels, Anna’s print and Jenny’s customized card made for a beautiful, hand-crafted, collection. We made a limited number, so the lucky recipients truly have a keepsake. We’re already scheming for what we will do next year… so look forward to next February!
I was crazy flattered when The DIME Store asked me to help with their annual ValenDIME arrangements. The local handmade go-to shop has been a favorite of mine ever since they set up shop on Locust. The store carries work from 40+ local-to-Denton artists, crafters, makers, and collectors. Some of the most talented people I know have their work featured in the Dime store, so to be a part of their Valentine’s celebration was a huge honor.
We stuck with traditional colors of reds and pinks with a few fun and funky blooms thrown in the mix. Shawna hand lettered little pennant flags to adorn the arrangements. The most fun was seeing people tag me in their Instagram posts after receiving the flowers from their Valentine! Love is such fun.
Here’s another look from the styled shoot I did with Matt McElligott Photography and Neon Sheep Calligraphy in the fall. We wanted a clean, modern aesthetic with pops of fun color. The table and chairs we borrowed from B&H Furniture were just the coolest, of course, because all their stuff is awesome.
This look surprised me, because I would never describe my preferred style as “modern.” I was actually the most nervous about designing something for this look out of all the styles we discussed. (Thanks for the creative push, guys!)
But, when the pincushion proteas and gomphrena arrived, I knew I had found new loves. The texture and color is so rich and playful. Add in a few gray-washed lotus pods, a concrete vessel, and copper touches and the look came together.
The little marbled balls on the plates are gourmet chocolates and we planted tiny succulents in mini copper mugs for the cutest place setting ever. The aloe plants are in gorgeous white sculptures that add such a delicate touch. Many of the copper elements are from Target and that just made my heart so happy. Target is killing it lately.
If this is what modern is, then count me in!
Last fall, I joined forces with the creative power-house that is the McElligotts to create a few styled reception looks. I am so excited to share a few images from one of the looks finally!
We had a long, but fun day putting this all together and Jenny (from Neon Sheep Calligraphy) and Matt (Matt McElligott Photography) are a so good at what they do, it was great to spend the day with them!
This was a fairytale look. Set in the woods, little gold touches and softs pinks created a warm glow on the rustic table from B&H Furniture. Jenny hand-calligraphed the menus on leather. Every detail was cozy, sweet and romantic. Even my grandmother’s gold deer got adorned with a collar wreath! Blooms included ranunculus, garden roses, hydrangea, spray roses, with rosemary, dusty miller and eucalyptus as greenery.
More looks coming soon!
