I ran into Jackie and her sweet mom at the Denton Bridal Show. I instantly recognized her mom from the church I grew up attending. What a small world! Jackie is several years younger than me but we both grew up in the same youth group and our circles of people overlap quite a bit. To top it off, her wedding was at that same church! It was a little homecoming for me and I loved being a part of Jackie + Jacob’s special day.
Jackie had a clear vision of a simple + modern color palette with clean lines and blooms. She explained her vision to me as “J. Crew”, modern and fresh and I really enjoyed getting to add a few elements of surprise in the theme. The bear grass was something we talked about using for the boutonnieres, but I really the love how it accented the bouquet also! Its always fun to try something new and push myself to be more creative. So thankful for brides who trust me.
**Funny sidetone, one surprise only my mom knows about… the light pink calla lilies that Jackie had her heart set on… came in totally white…so white that I called my supplier and told her she sent the wrong thing, but she hadn’t. 😦 Nature is a tricky thing sometimes. (Very important for brides to understand this!) But since I had designed the entire palette around these blush callas… I went to the depths of my tool bag and painted them. Yep, there is floral paint. I must say, I was pretty proud of how they turned out! Not something I like to do because I’m a pretty firm believer in letting nature be natural… but in this case it was appropriate.
All photos are from the lovely Jordan Blalock Photography. Jordan and I have now done several weddings together and I enjoy getting to laugh with her during the busy wedding set up times and then gushing over the pics together later.
Congratulations to the Wests! Blessings on your marriage and may you have many new adventures together!
I met Samantha at the Denton Bridal Show back in January. She and her best friend were so bubbly and fun that my sister and I loved them immediately. When I finally sat down with Samantha for her consultation she told me she loved jewel tone colors-purples, deep pinks and teal- and she wanted to use succulents. The whole look inspired me and her calm disposition next to fiance DJ’s humorous side was so fun to watch.
After Samantha, DJ and I met, my family planned a vacation in Colorado. Due to my dad’s cancer diagnosis, going on the family vacation was extra important this year, so I immediately called Morgan and asked if she was up for taking on the wedding on her own. We cleared it with Samantha and it was a go. And the results…. stunning!! So let me just take a moment to say…I am so proud of Morgan and so happy she’s on the Gathered team. Her friendship means the world to me–she encourages me in Jesus, in business and always has my back. She worked really hard, on her own, to make this wedding happen and she killed it.
Back to the wedding… check out these images from Emily Davis Photography. The colors look so striking against the rustic backdrop of the Flying V Ranch. Samantha’s joy shines through these images and as a Gathered team, we are so happy for the Howards!
Thank you Samantha and DJ for letting us be a part of your big day. Emily, thank you for sharing these gorgeous images. Morgan, thanks for killing it, girl.
This spunky Venezuelan girl met a soft-spoken Texan and the rest is history. Naidania and Chase truly are a love at first sight story. They didn’t even speak each other’s language when they met. She learned English for him and he learned Spanish for her… and is your heart melting yet?! These two wanted a backyard wedding, and thought of every detail to make the day one to remember.
Naidania wanted soft pastels for the florals and really wanted to incorporate blue since it is Chase’s favorite color. Blue flowers can be tricky, but I think the end result is beautiful and captures her sweet, but vibrant personality perfectly. We had days upon days of thunderstorms leading up to the wedding and had to go with several “plan B” options, but thanks to Amanda with Embrace the Day Events, this day went smoothly and she kept my stress level at a normal amount. 🙂
Crista is one of those girls who is so effortlessly beautiful that she can pull off a baseball hat and little make up or get totally dolled up and still make it look easy. Her sweet personality and love for all things glitter and glam made me love her after our first meeting, but then… she hugged me on her wedding day, in her gorgeous dress, saying how much she loved the flowers…. and made Morgan and I both cry. She’s just that awesome.
Crista loves white Phalenopsis orchids, so we used those throughout the wedding with other white blooms for a dramatic, but classy feel.
She and Kelvin met as teachers at the same school and by just looking at all the fun they had at their reception, I foresee many, many happy years ahead for them. Congrats you two, thanks for letting us make your floral dreams come true!
The above two pictures are from my iPhone, but show the single stem table set up and the gorgeous head table garland.
