A lot of things stuck out to me after my meeting with the sweet mother of the bride, Dana, hearing about what bride Meredith was dreaming of… Kate Middleton, the Adolphus, Washington D.C., but what captured me most was the incredible vision and color palette.
Meredith and Ian both live and work in Washington D.C., so all planning was handled by her mother (who couldn’t be cuter.) I usually get nervous when I don’t get to meet the bride in person, but Dana assured me that Meredith was laid back and only had a few “must haves.” First, that her bouquet be small. Like Kate Middleton. While the trend is to have huge bridal bouquets, I liked that Meredith didn’t need or want a “look at me” bouquet. Really every thing I heard in regards to Meredith’s taste was to keep it simple.
Now, I wouldn’t consider the vision of the wedding simple, it is the Adolphus after all. But for a big Dallas wedding, Meredith was after a personal, unique affair rather than just a huge run-of-the-mill wedding. I loved this about working with her family.
The colors and textures are what really brought this look together. We used a large variety of blooms to create an opulent garden feel. Combined with the mercury glass compotes and mirrored pedestals, the look was glamorous and fun. We built a curly willow arch for the ceremony and then used that as the backdrop for the croquembouche– it was a showstopper. And the head table– Epic. Filled with a long garland, several compote arrangements and two large arrangements flanking the ends, this was a table decked for a party!

This will be a wedding I remember for a long time, not just because it was the Adolphus and so wonderfully fancy, but because working with Dana and Meredith was such a pleasure. It was such fun to dream big with them and then see them truly appreciate the joy and beauty of the day. Oh, and finally meeting Meredith and Ian was fun too! 🙂
Congratulations to the Lathrops! Thank you for trusting me with the details of your special day. I pray for many years of joyful marriage!
