Megan + Brian

Megan and Brian are so in love and were so happy to finally get to their wedding day, the joy on their faces in these pictures is contagious. I love the old Hollywood glamour of Megan’s dress and how the bright blooms play off the girls pale gray/blue dresses. Megan’s love of bright blooms and happy florals paired so well with the garden backdrop of the arboretum and can we get an Amen for those anemones!

Jillian’s images of the day are so dreamy! Oh hey, drama, come here!

I also LOVE a bride to takes her bouquet to the getaway car! I know its hard to remember those little items, but Megan told me after her last dance with Brian they started to walk out and she screamed, “my bouquet!” and ran to get it! Totally love her for that.

Congratulations to the Algiers! Gathered was so honored to be a part of your special day!

Jewel-toned Styled Shoot

As a florist, I am approached by different vendors about participating in styled shoots fairly often. To protect my wedding schedule and balance family life, I have to be picky about what I say yes to. So, when Kari Ellen emailed the details of this boho styled shoot full of other vendors I loved and included a HORSE, I knew I had to say yes. First, I loved the inspiration images and opulent feel she envisioned and my 3yr old adores horses, so it was a great opportunity to take her to work with me.

Thanks to the wonderful team of vendors for their stellar work! This shoot was featured on Wedding Chicks & Brides of North Texas blogs. And Camp still talks about Jesse the horse!

Denton Bridal Show

Morgan and I had a great time at the Denton Bridal Show at Hubbard Hall this past weekend. We’ve always loved this event and meet the sweetest  brides and get to hang with some of our favorite vendors.

This year we went for a magical garden feel for the booth. With traditional, full arrangements flanking the ends of the table in blush, cream and white, we went a little more modern and whimsical for the arbor. Hanging greens and blooms created a beautiful backdrop that would also work well for a ceremony space or cake backdrop at a reception.

Thanks to the team who put on a great show and all the brides who came out and said hi.  I also want to say thanks to my artist friends who helped make the cutest swag bags for some lucky girls. Freckled Pottery, Anna Tovar, The Dime Store, Home Again Home Again, and Sydney Lopez– y’all rock.

Sydney Lopez: Modern Salon contest

I went to a small private school for junior high and high school and was good friends with the people in grades above and below me as well as my own class (there weren’t that many of us!). And I’m not sure what to accredit this to, but ALOT of us are still friends. I feel like its an unusual amount for a high school. I mean, I married a guy from high school, so maybe it was just several grades with really awesome people or something…

Anyways, I was good friends with a pair of sisters who are both still local to Denton now. We played volleyball together, went on mission trips, and had slumber parties. Now, the older sister, Sydney, is a STELLAR hair stylist in Denton. Her mom did my hair in high school and now Syd has made a name for herself as the #unicornhair queen of Denton. We’ve also worked a few weddings together, which really couldn’t be more fun!

Other people around the nation are taking notice of her and her instagram account (@sydneyannlopezhair) and she entered the Modern Salon Balayage and Boho contest. Since boho girls need flowers in their hair, I got the call to participate! Below are images of Syd’s first creation for the Top Ten entry.

She quickly moved up to Top Five and here’s what she did! I loved making the floral crown for the mini horse, even though that pony did not want to cooperate on photo shoot day!

Syd did not win the contest, but man did she give them a tough decision. Congratulations to Sydney! Also, brides, take note. She can create magic for you on wedding day! 🙂

Danae + Max

I met sweet Danae at the Denton Bridal Show waaaaay back in January of last year. When we met for our consultation, she talked about her love of the color wheel and strong, saturated color. Her inspiration images were bold and so happy. Danae’s got that laid-back, boho vibe about her, so I instantly thought of using a collection of blue glass vessels for her bright flowers. Danae caught onto my vision and I looked forward to her wedding since then… because I LOVE colored glass. Just ask my husband, I have an obsession.

All the colors came together beautifully and I really love the saturated effects of the deeper tones. Danae liked the idea of an ombre cake look and we totally dig it. What a fun one! Happy 9 months of marriage to the Townsleys!

Autumn + Graham

When planning Autumn’s wedding day, her mom and I spoke about an elegant, garden-like floral design. Autumn wanted only green and white, so we selected blooms that would give her tons of texture. Since the venue was literally a castle, I wanted to make sure our designs fit the feel of the space. Romantic, elegant and classic were our goals and I love how everything turned out. We used a tight color palette of bright whites and greens. Peonies, tulips, hydrangea played beautifully against English ivy and lemon leaf. Since Autumn lives out of town, I worked mostly with her sweet momma and was a little nervous on the big day to see Autumn’s reaction. Thankfully, she loved everything and looked flawless for her dreamy castle wedding. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. King! Thank you for letting Gathered be a part of your special day!

Megan : Bridal Portraits

Megan’s garden wedding was a smash, so I now have the privilege of showing off her gorgeous bridal portraits done by the one and only Jillian Zamora. Megan is a fellow flower-lover and wanted a berry toned palette. We went full color with coral charm peonies, burgundy dahlia, red anemone, hermosa roses, pink ranunculus and a touch of greenery. Against her lace gown, I think it looks so lush and dramatic. Can’t wait to share wedding images, but until then, Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Alpiger!!

Katie + Rudi

Katie and I have a mutual love of the king protea, so when she sent me some inspiration images prior to our consultation, I got very excited. Then, when I met with both she and Rudi and got to hear about Rudi’s South African heritage, I learned that the king protea is the country’s national flower! How cool is that?! We decided to use yellow roses to represent Katie paired with the king protea for Rudi… a sweet way to incorporate them both in the design.

This may be one of my all time favorite color palettes. Blush, butter yellow, deep burgundy and green. It is colorful without being over the top and finds that romantic note that makes wedding florals so special. Just look how pretty all the details came together!

Sherry + Mark

Sherry was possibly my most fun and descriptive wedding consult to date. The words she used to explain what she wanted had me rolling with laughter and perfectly described her vision all at once. I loved my time with her and her best friend planning a destination wedding of sorts in Denton!

Sherry and Mark live in Austin, but love the cool, artsy vibe of Denton. Sherry had seen my flowers and work at Kristyn & Ryan’s wedding last fall and hunted me down– I was incredibly flattered and so glad she did! We had a blast dreaming up her ideal bouquet and the rest fell into place easily.

Sherry wanted a Gatsby inspired, moody-colored, textured filled bouquet. Of course, I love texture and I thought this fit so well with the overall wedding, since the reception was held at Paschalls’ Bar on the square in Denton (how cool?!) Several brides over the years have told me they want their bouquets to look like, “they ran through a field and picked them up,” so Sherry’s statement didn’t surprise me until she add, “but, like, a field behind Versailles.” I had never heard that one before, but what a dreamy, hilarious, perfect way to explain what she was thinking.

Take a look at Sherry and Mark’s gorgeous, Denton/Versailles, winter wedding!

Some silly bridesmaids pictures! I could have chosen the serious, smiling ones, but there were so many of these funny faces… I couldn’t resist.

Oh, hey, Kristyn! 🙂

Happy, happy day for Mr. and Mrs. Koorie! Thanks for letting Gathered play a part in your special day! Lots of love to you guys!!

Katherine + Josh

Katherine is a bubbly, warm, fellow flower lover and her inspiration images for her wedding had me drooling the minute she showed me. Tons of ranunculus, deep tones, bright pops of color and flowy greens… all the makings of my favorite bouquet. She and Josh had a mid-December wedding but did not want it to feel Christmas-y, which I totally understand. And oddly enough for Texas, it was actually freezing the day of her wedding! The photos from Alex Maldonado are gorgeous, but the exit pic with the REAL snow was spot. on. perfection. Sometimes Texas weather can be so clutch! See all the happiness below!
